Year 11 Mental Health and Wellbeing Club

Exams and revision can be a stressful event for any student but our Year 11’s have come up with a great way to let off steam and ensure they look after themselves, as well as their grades.

Set up with the support of our Senior Prefects, the Year Team have worked with students to ensure that every Thursday after school there is a mental health and wellbeing session for the students to attend. Once their boosters finish students fill the sports hall and cooking rooms ready to have some fun.

This is somewhere to come to chat, relax, have fun and just be a kid again (even for our staff).

The sessions have been a massive success and, on some occasions, we have even had to discuss finding bigger rooms. Students have taken part in dodgeball, bench ball and even made their own pizzas.

Students have spoken out about the club’s benefits and we hope this will convince more students to put themselves first and find the perfect balance between revision and time for themselves.

“It gives me a chance to relax and have fun in the middle of my studies”

“It gives me somewhere to be with my friends and not always think about exams”

Thank you to all our Senior Prefects, Mrs Slaughter and all the staff who have supported the activities, helping to ensure this can run every week. We look forward to welcoming even more students as the club grows in popularity.

Looking after your mental health and wellbeing is incredibly important no matter what year you are in. If you would like to talk to someone about your own mental health and wellbeing, then please approach your Student Advocate who would be happy to sit with you and have a supportive conversation at any time.
